Mathews County is on the map once again, ranking as one of the Top 50 Small Town Downtowns in America, according to Best Choice Reviews, an online guide that claims to aid consumers to make good buys and avoid the bad ones.

Mathews appeared as #50 on the list and Best Choice Reviews described it as “more than a small town; it is the smallest county in Virginia, with just 84 square miles and not a single traffic light.”

The website, www.bestchoicereviews.org, lists several statistics about Mathews, including its 2013 population, median income, age of residents and median housing price. 

The description went on, “This small town boasts a historic, yet updated downtown area with shopping, dining and art.
