Mathews County Little League baseball and softball teams have completed their regular seasons and are now finishing tournament play. According to Mathews Little League President Ryder Cullison, Mathew is the only county hosting two tournaments, playing host to the Girls’ Minor Softball (ages 9-10) Tournament and the Boys’ Junior Baseball (ages 12-13) tournament.

The ages 8-10 Softball All-  Star Tournament has concluded and Richmond County will advance to the State Tournament. Mathews County took on Richmond County June 23 in the hopes of advancing as it did in 2012. Mathews needed a win to force one final game with Richmond County but was narrowly defeated, 7-6. Had the All-Stars won Mathews would have needed another win against Richmond County on June 24 to advance.
