Mathews Library to host Howl-A-Palooza on Oct. 30

Howl-A-Palooza, a Hallow-een event in downtown Mathews, will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30, in the backyard of the Bay School at 279 Main Street.

According to a press release, Mathews Memorial Library staff began planning to once again host the annual party, but quickly concluded that, since the Howl-A-Palooza was canceled last year, 2021 needed to be even more special than usual. They recruited the help of the Coalition4Kids and Mathews Main Street Committee, and the makings of a memorable event began to unfold.

There will be a parade on Main Street, with “treats galore” offered by C4K members, said the release, and there will be games, music, and seasonal goodies.

Guests are invited to come to the backyard bash in costume, dressed as their favorite storybook characters, and prizes will be awarded for “the most artful interpretation,” said library director Bette Dillehay.

Finally, Belmont Pumpkin Farm will make pumpkins available for carving. For more information...
