Mathews Historical Museum to host events in August

The Mathews Historical Museum has a couple upcoming events planned for next month.

From 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 14, the museum will host a late afternoon tea with artist P. Buckley Moss. In the past, the museum has held receptions for the first and second editions of Moss’s “Mathews Collection,” and a third one is in the works, a museum release stated. The prints of the New Point Lighthouse and a workboat are both available for purchase at the museum and Moss will be at the museum to sign both.

The following Friday and Saturday, Aug. 19 and 20, the museum will host some of the area’s finest woodcrafters who will share their talents as they demonstrate carving bowls, decoys and other items. Some of the items will be on display and others will be available for purchase.

The museum is located at 200 Main Street. For more information, visit www.mathewsvamuseum.org.
