Mathews harriers win district meet

The Mathews High School boys’ and girls’ cross country teams took first place in the Tidewater District Cross Country Meet, both with team scores of 20, last Wednesday, Oct. 27, at Eastern State Hospital in Williamsburg.

For the boys, Cameron Stearns took first-place overall with a time of 19:06. Next for Mathews was Seth James in second with a time of 19:24, followed by Carson Brown in third with a time of 19:31.

Dylan White ran a 20:50, followed by Andrew Greve (20:57), Gavin Dustin (21:13), Grayson Camp (21:58) and Fabian Cardenas (25:02).

For the girls, Adelle Hudgins came in first for Mathews and third overall with a time of 24:39. Melody Smith came in next for Mathews with a time of 24:48, followed by Zoe Camp who ran a 24:55.

Lilly Bane ran a 25:46, followed by Anna Raub (25:56), Lorena Carballo (26:51), Zoe Goodwin (27:20) and Grayson Griffith (28:36).
