Mathews girl to compete in national pageant

Brooke Prentice, daughter of Tom and Belinda Prentice of Mathews, will represent the county while competing for the title of National American Miss Pre-Teen over Thanksgiving week in Anaheim, Calif.

Prentice was the second runner up in the Virginia Miss Pre-Teen (ages 10-12) Pageant, which was held on July 28-30 in Reston. She also was the overall talent winner for her tap dance routine, speech winner and personality winner. She received $500 in cash awards.

National American Miss Pageants are dedicated to celebrating America’s greatness and encouraging future leaders, according to a release. An honor roll student, Prentice enjoys acting, dancing, singing, playing guitar, skiing, horseback riding, ice skating, swimming, writing, fishing and rock climbing.
