Food Lion in Mathews is now offering Food Lion To-Go. Customers are able to place an order online between the hours of 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. for the items they wish to purchase, and then pick their groceries up at the store between the hours of 10 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Wanda Marshtown, director of operations for Food Lion, was at the local store on Monday for a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new service. She said the To-Go service was all about Food Lion’s “easy, fresh, affordable, you-can-count-on-Food-Lion-every-day strategy.” 

“It’s about making it easy for customers to get in and get out,” she said. “You don’t even have to come in the store.”

The shopper can be very specific about his or her needs, said Marshtown, even down to requesting the ripest bananas for banana pudding versus fresher bananas for eating.
