Mathews Fireworks Show returns July 4

Mathews County’s 22nd annual Fireworks Show will be held beginning at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 4, at Mathews High School. The rain date is Friday, July 5.

Music will be provided by WIGO Country 104.9 FM. The Piankatank Ruritan Club will be selling food, drinks and ice cream. The fireworks display will begin at approximately 9 p.m.

Overflow parking will be available at Thomas Hunter Middle School on Church Street, with a shuttle bus provided from 7 p.m. until the end of the show.

Five prizes will be raffled off the night of the event, with raffle tickets available for purchase at Cattails, Country Cuts, or on-site at the fireworks.

The prizes are: a Wendy Daze Charter fishing trip, donated by Wendy Daze Charters; a Lifetime Fathom 100 paddle board, donated by Mathews Fireworks Committee; a Stihl HS 45 hedge trimmer, donated by Chimney Corner Lawnmower Service; a YETI cooler/Harley Davidson gift bag donated by Friends of the Fireworks Committee; and a Husqvarna 129L weed eater,...
