Mathews Farmers’ Market gets high ranking in survey

The Mathews Farmers’ Market is among the top three farmers’ markets in Eastern Virginia to receive the most votes in a recent reader’s survey by Virginia Living Magazine. The first-, second- and third-place rankings in the Best Farmers’ Markets for Eastern Virginia for 2016 survey will be announced in the magazine’s May issue.

According to a press release, Carolyn Taylor, chair of the farmers’ market board, announced the results to market participants on Saturday, April 9.

The market opened for the season on April 2 and will be open each Saturday until the end of October, except for Sept. 10, when Mathews Market Days is held, said the release. The hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Located on the downtown court green at the corner of Court and Church Streets, the market has been operating for 28 years, said the release. It is sponsored by the Mathews Main Street Committee.
