Mathews County’s historic courthouse is now closed for renovations.
During Tuesday’s meeting of the county board of supervisors, which was held in the courthouse, building official Jamie Wilks said that the building will be closed from yesterday, Oct. 23, through most of November.
The renovations will include making the front of the room all one level, installing a U-shaped meeting table there, and installing new sound capabilities. There will also be connections for future video and internet capabilities, as well. The board decided to meet at Mathews Memorial Library next month in case the renovations aren’t finished by then.
In planning matters, the board unanimously approved a rezoning request and a conditional use permit for a property at the corner of Windsor Road and Buckley Hall Road in Dutton.
