Mathews County Public Schools will hold its annual employee convocation at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 19, in the Mathews High School auditorium.

School board chairman John Persinger and Charles Ingram, chairman of the Mathews County Board of Supervisors, will deliver greetings from their respective boards. Ben Kiser, executive director of the Virginia Association of School Superintendents and former Gloucester County superintendent of schools, will be the guest speaker.

Following the program, employees will have lunch in the school cafeteria. Opening day of the 2014-2015 school year is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 2. ...
