Mathews Convenience Center only taking household trash, recyclables

The Mathews Convenience Center, operated by the Virginia Peninsulas Public Service Authority, has adjusted its rules as a result of the coronavirus, according to a notice posted at the facility on Route 14.

As of Monday, the center is only accepting household trash, cardboard and recyclable containers. Temporarily, the facility will no longer accept yard waste (brush, limbs, leaves or grass), scrap metal/appliances, tires, oil and antifreeze or mixed paper.

The convenience center is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays and Fridays, and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, and closed on Wednesdays.
