Mathews Chamber elects Cordon Davis president

Cordon Davis III was recently elected president of the Mathews County Chamber of Commerce.

Davis, who manages Diggs Insurance at Ward’s Corner, Mathews, succeeds Joe Syslo who resigned last year for personal reasons.

The rest of the chamber board remains intact, Davis said: vice president, Brenda Moore; secretary, Dorothy Bayford; treasurer, Debbie Hancock, and directors, Joshua Junker, Rosemary Griffith, Terry Hearn and Ian Morse.

Davis, 27, said he is honored to be elected chamber president. The Mathews organization is run by volunteers from the business community, he said, without benefit of paid staff.

Davis said one of his major goals is to beef up the group’s membership. He said the chamber currently has about 65 members and a drive is underway to recruit more.
