Mathews BOS to meet tonight

The Mathews County Board of Supervisors has a full agenda for its September meeting, to be held at 6 o’clock tonight, Thursday, Sept. 17, in the historic courthouse on Court Street. Two public hearings will be held—one by Arcola Tower for a conditional use permit to place a 197-foot monopole communications tower on property belonging to Dale Blaylock on Beaverdam Road near its intersection with Ridgefield Road south of Mathews Court House. The other is on a request to rezone 2.006 acres owned by James Warren Callis Jr. on Mariners Road from Rural to Residential 1 to allow the sale of the property to a neighbor who would like to create two 1-acre parcels for family members. There will be several special presentations: a proclamation honoring the late Nancy Carol Bodurtha Higginbotham; a report by Judy Rowe, chair of the Mathews Broadband Advisory Board; adoption of a resolution by Commissioner of the Revenue Les Hall on the percentage of personal property tax relief allocated to vehicle...
