Mathews board to meet Tuesday

The Mathews County Board of Supervisors, meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the historic courthouse, will consider a resolution on a bond issue for Williamsburg Landing in Williamsburg that was the subject of a recent public hearing by the Industrial Development Authority.

Virginia IDAs can issue bonds in amounts of up to $10 million per year to any eligible entity in the state. The Mathews IDA will collect an administrative fee for issuing the bonds but will not incur any debt on behalf of Mathews County.

The board is expected to hear from the United Daughters of the Confederacy regarding signage options identifying Mathews as the “Birthplace of Captain Sally Tompkins,” receive an update from the Mathews County Historical Society on Department of Historical Resources grants, and review a proposed agreement with Colonial Williamsburg for the county’s Campeachy chair.
