Mathews board to hold organizational meeting next week

The Mathews County Board of Supervisors will hold its 2022 organizational meeting at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 6, in the historic courthouse on Court Street.

Items included on the agenda are election of a new chair and vice chair, appointment of clerk and deputy clerk to the board, and appointments of supervisors and county residents to various boards and commissions.

The board will also set the schedule for 2022 meetings, review its Code of Ethics, Rules of Procedure, and Bylaws; schedule FOIA/COIA training; schedule Active Shooter training; and accept the resignation of the interim county administrator.

A closed meeting is included on the agenda, as well, to consider prospective candidates for employment, including the interim county administrator and county administrator. Also under consideration will be the assignment, appointment, promotion, performance, salaries, disciplining, or resignation of specific public officers, appointees, or employees.
