Mathews blood drive

Sixty units were collected at the American Red Cross community blood drive on Dec. 6 at the Piankatank Ruritan Club in Hudgins. A total of 62 potential donors showed up; there were seven deferrals, two were not able to give a complete donation and eight gave double red donations. Katie Parker was the only first-time donor to take part. Robert Croxton, Bruce Meador and Michael Moore gave for the first time in Mathews. Gallon pins were awarded to Sandra Crittenden and Cela Knebl (one gallon), Maurice Murphy (two gallons), Tim Roscher and Marianne Rizzio (four gallons), Richard Farinholt (six gallons), Cheryl Battle (seven gallons), Anne Reisnes and Mitch Hallberg (eight gallons), Gib Pulley (14 gallons) and Brenda Moore (21 gallons).
