Mathews Baptist to host community health fair Saturday

“Fall into Family Fitness,” a free community-wide health fair sponsored by Mathews Baptist Church, will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23 at the church in Hudgins.

The fair will offer a wide range of activities for the whole family, said committee member Dawn Miller, from healthy cooking demonstrations to blood pressure screenings, CPR demonstrations to shoulder massages. There will be a bounce house for children, and the Life Evac helicopter is scheduled to make a landing if weather and circumstances permit.

Representatives from many health and wellness areas will be on hand for consultation, including podiatry, mental health and substance abuse, physical therapy and personal training. 

Those attending can get a finger prick test for blood sugar, have their vision and hearing tested, and participate in an acupuncture demonstration. There will also be free gifts and door prizes, including a bicycle, a Fitbit, a smoke detector, and more from local bus...
