The Mathews Little League Senior All-Star baseball team, District 15 champions, competed in the Virginia State Tournament last weekend at Coeburn. The Mathews boys acquitted themselves well, going 3-0 in pool play. However, their season came to an end on Monday afternoon as they fell to District 3 champion Broadway in the first round of single-elimination bracket play, 12-2. Mathews started off strong on Friday with a 9-3 win over the District 13 champs, the Wise Warriors.
