The Virginia Master Naturalist program is marking its 20-year anniversary in 2025 with meetings across the state. One was held recently at Machicomoco State Park in Hayes.
Volunteers from local chapters, including Middle Peninsula Chapter, were in attendance. The gathering included fellowship, speakers, slide shows and cake. The celebration was led by Michelle Prysby, Program Director, Virginia Master Naturalists, and Tiffany Brown, Program Assistant. Karen Duhring of the Center for Coastal Resources Management at VIMS and Middle Peninsula Chapter advisor, also spoke at the event. VIMS is a statewide sponsor of Virginia Master Naturalists.
Master Naturalists are volunteers who are trained to be stewards of the environment and to teach their communities.
