Master Gardeners

Gloucester Extension Master Gardeners welcomed to its recent meeting this year’s two scholarship recipients. Kayleigh Miller and Charlotte Lasseigne. Miller is attending Coastal Carolina University and Lasseigne is attending James Madison University; each received $1,000. Each year for the past 20+ years, Master Gardeners has awarded scholarships to graduating seniors at Gloucester High School through the proceeds of its Plant Extravaganza. This year’s plant sale will be at the Gloucester Moose Lodge on Route 17, on Friday, Sept. 8 from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 9 from 8 a.m. to noon. During the summer, members of Master Gardeners transplant and propagate plants for this big event. Shown at the meeting are, from left, president Susan Camp, Miller, Lasseigne and vice president Wendy Calder. Pictured getting plants ready are Twila Driver (standing) and Chris Conley.
