MARY SLATER ROWE RILEY

Mary Slater Rowe Riley, 84, of Hayes, died peacefully Jan. 1, 2014 with family at her side.
 
She was a graduate of Achilles High School and a dedicated faithful member of Providence Baptist Church. Mary Slater was very family oriented and lovingly cared for all her family. She was a generous, kind and Christian lady who gave her love to everyone unconditionally, as was very evident in her volunteer work at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital, where she volunteered for over 25 years. She was loved by so many and will be lovingly remembered.
 
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur H. Riley Jr., and parents, Adrian and Mildred Rowe.
 
She is survived by her daughters, Rita R. West and husband Thomas, Teresa R. Setterholm and husband Bernard, Kathy R. Machie and husband Danny, and Annette Norman and husband Mitchell; grandchildren, Stephanie Jeffrey and husband Brad, Courtney Horkey and husband Mike, Emily Setterholm-Lemon and husband Paul, Jeffrey Setterholm and wife Pamela, Adrienne Carter and husband Jeffery, Erica Moreno and husband David, Michael Machie and wife Erin, Allyson Kreis and husband Hershel, Christie Gallagher and husband Tim, Lori Rogers and husband Clay; great-grandchildren, Kali, Adyson, Rylie, Sawyer, Gus, Elijah, David, Lily, Henry, Kara, Levi, Nicholas, Cooper, Ian, Emma, and Justin and wife Michelle, Ally, Kati and Micki, and a host of extended family and friends.
 
Funeral services conducted by the Rev. Dr. Richard Croxton and the Rev. Bill West were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014, at Providence Baptist Church. Interment followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, from 6-8 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point.
 
The family would like to thank Dr. Ron Haggerty and staff of Riverside Hospice, Teresa Hogge, Lisa Kight, Regina Rowe, Angie Jenkins and Drema Schlegel, and Nikki Rowe for the care and support given to our mother.
