MARY HUGHES ROBINS

Mary Hughes Robins, 88, of Gloucester, Va., passed away on Monday, April 22, 2013.

She was born in Richmond, Va., to the late Edwin J. and Gladys Johnson Hughes, and was the widow of Milton Robins.

She was a member of Singleton United Methodist Church, the Willing Workers Class and the United Methodist Women. She retired from Abingdon Elementary School as an office clinic aid in 1986 after 18 years of service, and was an accomplished seamstress and had a great love for needlepoint and cooking.

She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Jane Bolton; sister, Ruth Bruce, and brother, Edwin Hughes.

She is survived by her daughters, Josephine Marie Diamond and her husband Joe  of Pawleys Island, S.C., and Margaret Ann Horsley and her husband Jerry of Wicomico, Va.; her grandchildren, Jeffrey, Robyn, Melanie, and Amanda; her great-grandchildren, Zoe Marie, Zane, and Jacob, and sister-in-law, Josie Robins.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, April 25, 2013, from 6:30-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 26, 2013, at 2 p.m. in Singleton United Methodist Church by the Rev. Calvin Griffin. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
