MARY FEARS STODDARD

Mary Fears Stoddard, 98, of Slidell, Louisiana and formerly of Middlesex County, passed away on Jan. 16, 2018.  

She was born on June 19, 1919, on Brandon Farm in Middlesex. 

She was predeceased by her parents, Clyde D. Fears and Eva Taylor Fears; her brother, Joseph C. Fears, and her husband of 57 years, John B. Stoddard (Jack).  

She is survived by her two children, John B. Stoddard Jr. (Pattie) of Mandeville, Louisiana, and her daughter, Phebe S. Hyde (Charlie) of Cobbs Creek; five grandchildren, Debbie S. Wells, Wendy S. Snell, John Stoddard III, Georgi A. Hyde, and Charles (Chuck) J. Hyde; 10 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, three nieces, one nephew, and many cousins.  

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Slidell, the Middlesex Woman’s Club, the Garden Club of Gloucester, and the Republican Women’s Club.

She loved all animals, especially her dogs Amy and Peek and her cat, Taffy (kitty cat).  

An avid artist, her paintings are treasured by many.  

A memorial service will be held on Monday, Jan 29, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Harmony Grove Baptist Church, Topping, with private burial to follow.
