Mary Evelyn “Evie” Cleary, age 92, of Gloucester, died Dec. 15, 2018.

Evie was born on May 30, 1926 in Lansing, Michigan, to Joseph and Martha (Fedewa) Meyers. She was preceded in death by her husband, William R. Cleary.

Evelyn resided in Williamsburg, before moving to Gloucester to live with her daughter. As a resident of Williamsburg, she was a member of the Woman’s Club of Williamsburg-

GFWC, and a volunteer at St. Bede Catholic Church, and the American Red Cross.  

She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Patricia Cleary Shaw and husband Joe Shaw; brother-in-law, Gary Bartlett; sisters-in-law, Mary Masson, Lea Cleary, and Fran Cleary; step-grandson, Daniel Shaw (Nichole), as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

A Christian Funeral Liturgy Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 2019, at Church of St. Therese, 6262 Main Street, Gloucester, Va. 23061, conducted by the Rev. James Cowles. Inurnment will be private.
