MARY CAMPBELL DIGGS

Mary Campbell Diggs of Virginia Beach, passed away on Monday, Feb. 11, 2013.

Mom was born on Valentine’s Day in 1930 in Baltimore, Md. She was the daughter of the late Capt. William J. and Ethel Campbell.

She was a graduate of Katharine Gibbs School in New York City, and as a Navy wife, made a home for her family in Tacoma, Wash., San Diego, Cal., Hawaii, and Maryland, before settling in the Tidewater area.

She was a member of Francis Asbury United Methodist Church. She also enjoyed her time as a Girl Scout leader and a volunteer at Boone Naval Clinic in Norfolk, Va. She enjoyed genealogy, and was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, who will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Bernard W. Diggs; three children, Robin Diggs Campbell and her husband Vince, Steven W. Diggs, and Ann Diggs Dayton; a sister, Ann C. Miles; a nephew, William Campbell Hutson; five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel, Virginia Beach. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. in Francis Asbury United Methodist Church, Virginia Beach. Interment will follow in Princess Anne Memorial Park.
