MARY ANN CARVER

Mary Ann Carver, 80, of Mathews, died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2014.

Born at Fort Monroe, she was a longtime Hampton Roads resident and graduate of Hampton High School. She worked in the Home Section of J.C. Penney and was an election official. An avid knitter, she also enjoyed gardening and bird watching. She was a very sweet lady and loved by all. She was known at the nursing home as Mrs. Sunshine because she always met everyone with a big smile.

Preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Chuck” Carver, and her parents, Mary and Edward Bartsch; survivors include her children, Leslie Fischgrund and her husband John, Tina Carver-Finnie and her husband Dwight, Craig Carver, and Sandra Evans and her husband Bryce; and three grandchildren, Matthew Fischgrund, and Ethan and Ben Evans.

A memorial service will take place at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, in the library niche in the mausoleum at Parklawn Memorial Park, Newport News.
