Gloucester High School rower Casey Martin, who has been training this month with the U.S. Rowing Junior National High Performance Team in New London, Connecticut, has been moved up to the Select Team. 

Being named to the U.S. Junior National Select Team is the highest honor a junior rower may attain, according to Barry Williams of the Gloucester Rowing Association. 

Rowers from the Select Team race in the Junior World Championships and the CanAmMex Regatta. Martin is training with national team athletes from Mexico and Canada this week and will compete in the CanAmMex Regatta this weekend in Sarasota, Florida. 

The CanAmMex will include 12 sculling and sweeping events. Williams said Martin is scheduled to row in the women’s youth eight and at least one other event.  ...
