Two Gloucester High golfers advanced to the Group 5A State Tournament with performances Monday and Tuesday in the regional tournament at Deer Run.
Hickory High School earned the team bid to the state tourney by winning the regional with a 611 score over two days. Gloucester was second with 313 and 312, for a total of 625.
The top five individuals outside of Hickory also earned state tourney bids. Hunter Martin, with a 78 and 73, and Cameron Baker, with a 77 and 74, tied for third overall. The two Gloucester seniors head to the state event at Magnolia Green Golf Course in Richmond Monday and Tuesday.
The top two scores were 66 and 74 by a Hickory freshman and a senior from Kempsville High School who shot 76 and 74.
Also representing the Dukes, Nathan Gross shot 75 and 81, Jeremy Carr shot 86 and 84, Lathan Burnette shot 88 and 86 and Blake Taylor shot 82 and 88.
