MARTHA THOMAS MORTON

Martha Thomas Morton, a native of Roanoke, Virginia, daughter of the late William and Irene Thomas, died March 3, 2018 at the age of 77.

Martha attended Mary Washington University and graduated from the University of Virginia School of Nursing, where she was a registered nurse. Also, Mrs. Morton was employed by the Virginia Health Department Bureau of Crippled Children.  

With her husband, Philip Moncure Morton of 56 years, they moved to Gloucester following retirement in 2000.

She was a member of Ware Episcopal Church, former president of the Gloucester Woman’s Club, member of the North River Circle of The King’s Daughters and Sons, former president of the Middle Peninsula Fine Arts Association, Gloucester Genealogical Society of Virginia; she also worked at the Gloucester-Mathews Free Clinic.

Besides her husband Philip, survivors include her daughter, Linda Carduner and husband Mark; granddaughters, Melissa Pavacic and husband Christopher, Kaitlyn Carduner; grandson, Brad Carduner and Taylor Cummins, and great-grandson, Jackson Pavacic.

The Rev. Grant Ambrose will be conducting the Service of Remembrance on Saturday, March 10, 2018, at 1 p.m. at Ware Episcopal Church.  Inurnment will follow in Abingdon Episcopal Church Cemetery.
