MARTHA T. CARMINE HUDGINS

Martha T. (Carmine) Hudgins, 85, of Gloucester, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Oct. 6, 2025.

Martha was born on June 21, 1940 to the late William Burlee Thompson and Myrtle Brown Thompson and was one of seven girls. She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 60 years, Robert (Bobby) Hudgins; first husband, Ernest Carmine; her sons, W.T. & Greg Carmine; grandson, Jamie Carmine, and sisters, Marion Shackelford, Margaret Baumgardner and Mary Eagle. She is survived by her son, Robbie, wife Jennifer, and daughters, Katelyn, Khloe, Heather, Nevaeh, Kylah, and son, Abel; her son, Gerald, wife Denise, daughters, Lindsey and Cierra; daughter-in-law, Cindy Carmine, and sons, Clayton and Tyler; granddaughter, Cara Carmine Wiggins, husband Colter and son, Kenny; her sisters, Grace Rowe, Alice White, and Emma Walton, and a number of nieces and nephews. And lastly, her loving puppy Chase. Martha spent her life being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was known as “Nanny” by all that loved her. She gave much of her life volunteering in the community. She served as chairman of the American Red Cross blood drives for Gloucester County, and served as chairman of the voting polls for Petsworth district for many years. Once her children were grown, she spent much of her life traveling. She visited all 48 states in the Continental U.S., as well as many countries around the world. She made many lifelong friends along her journeys. At her request, a memorial service will be held at Bellamy United Methodist Church on Nov. 22 at 11 a.m., located at 4870 Chestnut Fork Road, Gloucester, Va. 23061. Following the service, all are invited to stay for a reception in the church fellowship hall.
