Martha Swoope McClanahan, 94, a native of Roanoke and longtime resident of Mathews County, passed away Monday, Nov. 22, 2016.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Elijah McClanahan, and son, Robert McClanahan.

Survivors include Heather McClanahan Choate and her husband Dennis; Sharon McClanahan Setzer and her husband Jay; David McClanahan and his wife Jacqui; a niece, Jeannette Glasheen; six grandchildren, and one great-grandson.

The family received friends at Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews, on Friday, Nov. 25, between 4-5:30 p.m.

A funeral service was conducted at Mathews Chapel United Methodist Church, Cobbs Creek, Virginia, by the Rev. Lisa Blackmonson on Saturday, Nov. 26 at 11 a.m.

Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
