A graveside service for Martha Shinn Bruette, 90, of Hayes, was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22 at Rosewell Memorial Garden Cemetery, Hayes. She died Aug. 18, 2017.

She retired from the Yorktown Naval Weapons Station as the first lead woman technician in the Ordnance Department.

She was preceded in death by husbands, William M. Shinn Sr. and Donald M. Bruette; parents, Coley E. and Lizzie Eure Haywood; son, Billy Shinn Jr.; daughter, Brenda Williams; sisters, Elaine Haywood, Mary Hogge, Gladys Bonniville, Sally Baker, Frances Marie Worley, and brother, Roy Haywood.

Survivors include her daughter, Inez Boerner; sister, Vernell Jones; six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

The service was conducted by the Rev. Richard Whiteheart and the Rev. Chris McMillan.
