MARTHA ELIZABETH HOGGE

Martha Elizabeth Hogge, a longtime resident of Charleston, South Carolina, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2016, in a hospital there.

She was born August 20, 1945, and was a resident of Gloucester County during her early years. She was the daughter of the late Elizabeth H. Hogge and Elphus V. Hogge of Severn, Virginia. Martha was an active member of a local Job’s Daughters Bethel, and a graduate of Gloucester High School and of Campbell University with a B.S. degree. She subsequently worked as a supervisor for Charleston County Department of Social Services for 31 years.

Martha is survived by a daughter, Andrea, and four grandchildren, Andrew, David, Patterson, and Molly McRae. She is also survived by many family members and close friends in Southeastern Virginia, as well as a host of longtime friends in Charleston who assisted her in her recent illness. 

There was a memorial service for Martha Hogge on Sunday, September 25, 2016, at 2 p.m. in the French Huguenot Church, Charleston. At a later date and upon her request, she will be laid to rest in a family plot in the Gloucester Point Cemetery at a graveside service.
