Market Days seeks help to ‘Sink the Boat’ with school supplies

The Mathews Market Days Committee is asking for help from the community to “Sink the Boat” by collecting school supplies for Mathews County Public School teachers.

“While some communities stuff the bus, we are going to ‘Sink the Boat,’” said Market Days Committee volunteer Melissa Maggioncalda, who is heading up this effort.

“We are asking community members to deliver and donate requested items at the Mathews Visitor Center or in a boat that will be parked out in front of Thomas Hunter,” she said. “Our goal is to ‘sink the boat’ with so many items that the teachers will not need to replenish their supplies during the year.”

Requested items include pencils, erasers, scissors (all sizes), Post-its, EXPO markers, sharpies, glue sticks, crayons, markers, highlighters, card stock, construction paper, composition books, binders, blue/black ink...
