Market Days Home Goods Competition this weekend

The Mathews Market Days Home Goods Competition is here, and its chairman, Cheryl Dale, wants to make sure everyone is aware of competition requirements.

There are two classifications of people who can enter this weekend’s competition: adults and youth (age 16 and under).

Both classifications are eligible to participate in all of the categories: Cookies, 2-Layer Cake, Quilted Table Runner, Quilted Wall Hanging, Knitted Afghan, Crocheted Afghan, Apron, Counted Threadwork (framed), and Surface Embroidery (unframed).

One dozen cookies must be put on a paper plate and placed in a zipper plastic bag. Cakes must be in or on a non-returnable covered container. The cover may be a lid, plastic wrap, etc.

After the food items are judged, the entries will be sold to the public, starting Friday morning. All proceeds will go to Kingston Episcopal Parish, Dale said, for letting Market Days use its facilities.
