Mark Stephen Casto, born on September 18, 1958 in the beautiful state of Colorado, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2025, in Virginia Beach, Virginia. At 67 years young, Mark embraced life with a passion that inspired everyone around him.
A dedicated and compassionate physical therapist, Mark devoted 25 years to helping others regain their strength and independence. His career path began at the Newport News Shipyard, where he spent two decades honing skills and creating lifetime friendships, before transitioning to his calling in physical therapy. Through his work, he became a beacon of hope and healing to many, touching lives with his warmth and expertise.
Beyond his professional life, Mark was the most avid fisherman one could ever meet. He found solace and joy on the water, which was truly his second home. Known for his incredible collection of mini-bikes and firearms, Mark never missed an opportunity to share his interests with friends and family. His vibrant personality made everyone feel as though they were the only ones in his world when he shared time with them.
A man of profound faith, Mark’s spiritual beliefs guided his actions throughout his life. He was a testament to grace and kindness, his devotion to the Lord evident in every aspect of his journey. His ability to make every moment memorable for those he interacted with was a testament to the love that resided in his heart.
Mark was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Lloyd and Juanita Casto, who undoubtedly welcomed him into eternal rest with open arms. He leaves behind a loving family: siblings, William “Bill” (Lois) Casto, Nona Graff (Tony), Janet Gomez (Gene), Laura Fleige; cherished nieces, Stephanie Roberts (Rhett), Missy Champeau (Barry); nephews, Nathan Graff (Laura), Daniel Gomez, and Chris Fleige (Kristina), along with many great-nieces and -nephews, his very loved, furried companion Bubba, and the countless friends who were touched by his light.
Mark Stephen Casto was truly a loving light to so many people in such a short time. His memory will forever live on in those fortunate enough to know him. Though we will miss his presence, we take comfort knowing his spirit remains a guiding force in our lives.
