MARK SAMUEL SMITH

Mark Samuel Smith, born in Ware Neck on Nov. 8, 1970, died in Puebla, Mexico on June 8, 2018.

Although born third into the family, as a young man, he took charge immediately. He never met a pun that he didn’t like and loved to retell over and over again. He loved to save money but gave lavishly of himself: his love, his time, and his advice. There were very few topics that he did not have an opinion on. Mark knew the love of Jesus and shared that love and peace everywhere he placed his feet. His heart was always for the hurting. He adored his wife of 17 years and their four children. He was a Gloucester boy through and through. He renovated houses and could repair almost anything. He cooked, sewed, baked, and spoke two languages. Mark was a leader, a teacher, and a missionary to Mexico.

Our family will never be the same without him, but Heaven will look brighter with him.

He has joined his father Holland Smith in heaven and leaves behind his loving wife, Sandra; his four children, Rachelle, Naomi, Caleb and Ashley; his mother, Dolora; his sisters, Holly (Ken-Heather, Alyssa and Jeremy) and Melody (Jeff-Hannah and Brooke); his brother, Daniel (Mandy-Kaiden, Minnie, Holland and Hadassah); his sister-in-law, Cecilia (Antonio-Robert and Joshua); his wife’s parents, Albert and Eda Fuentes; three uncles and a host of cousins.

The Celebration of Life service for our beloved Mark Smith will be held Tuesday, June 19, 11 a.m. at LightHouse Church, 4299 George Washington Memorial Highway Hayes, Va. 23072.
