Mark Douglas Young, age 60, of Gloucester went to be with his Lord on Sunday, Aug. 25, 2019.

Mark proudly served in the U.S. Navy for six years and then worked for Ampro Shipyard and McLean Contracting as a welder. He loved music, fishing, and spending quality time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a kind and generous man that loved to help others.

Mark was preceded in death by his father, Robert ‘Bob’ Young, and granddaughter, Brianna Sulc.

He is survived by the love of his life, Sue Young; his daughter, the Rev. Kristie (Johnny) Askew; son, Kenneth (Larissa) Young; grandchildren, Joshua Sulc, April Young, Eliana Fountain, Madison and Alexandra Trevilian; mother, Betty Jo 

Figgins; two brothers, Donald (Lucy) Young, James Young, as well as numerous extended family and friends.

A funeral service conducted by the Rev. Kristie Askew, the Rev. Tom Ligon, and the Rev. Ann Tang will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Aug. 30, 2019, in Salem United Methodist Church, 11408 Salem Church Road, Gloucester. The family will receive friends from 9-10 before the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
