A memorial service for Mark D. Carter, 66, of Gloucester will be held at noon on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2019, in Bethel Baptist Church, Gloucester. Mark, aka “Duck” or “MD,” died Aug. 25, 2019.

He was a Gloucester native, a United States Army veteran and a retiree of the Naval Weapons Station, Yorktown, with over 30 years of service. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Cephas and Beatrice Robinson Carter Sr., and wife, Patricia Armstead Carter.

Survivors include two sons, Shawn Armstead and Ai Supreme Allah; four sisters, Sandra Kemp, Thelma Brown, Mary Carter and Kisie “Kit” Gardner; three brothers, Steve Carter, Thomas Carter and Patrick Carter, and five grandchildren.
