MARION CARLTON HOGGE

Marion Carlton Hogge, 83, of Hayes, passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2011, in Walter Reed Convalescent Center after a long illness.

He was a lifelong resident of Gloucester County, and retired from Big Star Grocery working in the meat department. He was a member of Union Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon and taught Sunday School.

He was preceded in death by his stepson, Donald Abernathy; his parents, Lewis Harvey and Tessie Owens Hogge; his siblings, Calvin P. Hogge, Alice H. Horsley, and John E. Hogge.

He is survived by his wife, Vivian Abernathy Hogge; sisters, Catherine Haywood and Betty Lyle; brothers, Sam Hogge, Andrew Hogge, Jennings Hogge, and Thomas Hogge; great-granddaughter, Tracy Wilcher and her husband Richard, and a host of nieces and nephews.

The funeral service was held on Saturday, June 18, 2011, at 3 p.m. in Union Baptist Church by the Rev. Richard Whiteheart. Burial was in Gloucester Point Cemetery.
