MARILYNNE F. ALLAUN

July 1, 1946–March 23, 2026

Marilynne Freeman Allaun of Manteo, North Carolina, and formerly of Gloucester, Virginia, passed away peacefully at her home on March 23, 2026, after a long health battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Born on July 1, 1946 in Hampton, Virginia, she lived a full life of 79 years.

Marilynne attended East Carolina University and earned her elementary education teaching degree from High Point College. She always enjoyed being surrounded by kids, whether it was her students, or a house full of her children and all of their friends. Her love of the ocean and seaside sunsets brought Marilynne to the Outer Banks where she spent her remaining years closer to her daughter, Keri.

Marilynne is survived by her husband of 46 years, Sam Allaun of Manteo; her daughter, Keri Simmons (Ian), and granddaughter, Sara of Manteo; stepchildren, Christy Borkowski, Adam Allaun, and grandchildren, Jackson and Skylar Fulcher of Virginia Beach, Virginia; also, a brother, Bill Freeman of Elizabethtown, Kentucky.

Marilynne was preceded in death by her parents, William and Rose Freeman, and a son, Alex Allaun.

A private family service will be held at a later date to honor Marilynne’s memory and to celebrate her life.
