MARIE TONER BROWN

Marie Toner Brown, 69, of Gloucester, Va., passed unexpectedly in her home on Oct. 16, 2014 of natural causes.

She was born on Feb. 17, 1945 in Hopewell, Va., the daughter of Elizabeth Inez Copeland and Howard Bernard Toner.

She is survived by her husband, John E. Brown, of Gloucester; her brothers, James B. Toner (Pat), Clifford S. Toner (Jane), Michael F. Toner (Kathleen), and Howard B. Toner Jr. (Sandra), and her children, Thomas O. Petree Jr. (Eileen), Katherine Petree Runge, Timothy M. Petree (Teri) and Chris M. Brown (Angel). She leaves behind a legacy of eight grandchildren, Army Sergeant Thomas O. Petree III (Heidi), Kaitlynn M. Petree, Taylor N. Runge, Margaret E. Runge, Elizabeth A. Runge, Tristan B. Runge, Autumn M. Petree, Garrett D. Petree, and one great-granddaughter, Hallie Nicole Petree.

Marie was an active member of the Women’s Moose Chapter 1312, serving as secretary and treasurer. She was an avid target shooter at her local gun club and enjoyed traveling with her husband John. She also loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

The family received friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 20, 2014, at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Road, Midlothian, Va. where services were held Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2014 at 10 a.m. Interment followed at the Dale Memorial Park.
