MARGUERITE ‘DALE’ KEY

Marguerite “Dale” Key, 68, of Mattaponi, Va., passed away peacefully at home with family and the USMC standing guard by her side.

Dale was born on December 2, 1947 in Richmond, Va., to the late Alfred and Hilda (Booker) Murphy. She was educated in Richmond schools and married Robert (Bob) D. Key in 1978. Dale and Bob spent 38 years together many of which she spent caring for her Vietnam veteran (USMC) disabled husband and showing unwavering support to the Marine Corps League, of which Bob was a member.

Survivors include her cherished husband, Bob; brother, David Murphy (Cindy); son, Matthew Clarkson (Susan); sister, Vicki Murphy Robinson and boyfriend Gene; brother-in-law, Wayne Key; stepdaughter, Catherine Reese; niece, Victoria Lynn Peters, husband Kevin and their children, Tommy, Bella and Lizzy; grandsons, Brandon and Cody Kelly, and a host of other nieces and nephews. Dale also leaves behind her best buddy and “baby boy,” Dave and Jodey Clements and special little guy “Deuce,” her special neighbor and friend, Ms. Margaret Cook, and two special feline babies, Gertie and Baby.

Family and friends will gather to remember Dale in a memorial service at the West Point Church of God on Friday, July 22 at 7 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6-7 at the church before the service at 500 Main Street, West Point, Va. 23181.

Bob would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Kalil, NP Melissa Regan, Nurse Joann, and everyone at the Gloucester Cancer Center for never giving up on Dale. Thanks to Nurse Donna at the West Point Convalescent Center, and to Hospice Nurses Lori and Ethel and Social Worker Jennifer. God bless you all for the work you do. Thanks are never enough!
