MARGIE IRENE THOMAS

Margie Irene Thomas, of Gloucester, born in Bridgewater, Nebraska, on Sept. 28, 1921 passed away peacefully at the age of 97 on Feb. 16, 2019.

A loving mother and proud Navy wife, Margie was part of the war effort working in a canning factory making artillery shell casings. Her greatest joy was traveling over 50,000 miles on the back of a motorcycle all over the United States, Canada, and Alaska, with her husband of 67 years.  

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, William F. Thomas, and her eldest son, Tommy Thomas.

Margie is survived by sons, Raymond C. Thomas and his wife Lonna of Gloucester, and Richard E. Thomas and his wife Susan of Portsmouth. She is also survived by three grandsons, John, Raymond and Chris, and three great-granddaughters, Kendall, Logan and Madison. She will be greatly missed by all. 

A service celebrating her life conducted by the Rev. Margaret Louden will be held at 11 a.m. March 2, 2019, at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Saturday, from 10-11 a.m. A private inurnment will be at Albert G. Horton Veterans Memorial Garden Cemetery, Suffolk.
