Margaret Butler Williams, loving known as “Sissie,” 76, of Hartfield, Va., passed away peacefully in her home after a brief battle with cancer on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2022, surrounded by her beloved family. Sissie was preceded in death by her dedicated husband, Kenneth Wayne Williams; son, Kenny Williams; mother and father, Calvin and Leveice Butler, and sister, Dora Butler McCoy. Sissie is survived by her adoring daughter, Tammy Williams Ballantyne (Glenn); two granddaughters, Maggie Ballantyne (Charles) and Mollie Church (Bobby); two great-grandsons whom she adored, Preslee and Puller Ballantyne; two sisters, Leona Butler Brownley and Callie Butler Revere (Jamie); a sister-in-law, Shirley Williams Hudgins (Bill); three nieces, Donna Brown (Chuck), Etta Taylor, and Callie Jo Revere; a nephew, Brad Hudgins (Pam); two great-nieces; three great-nephews; three dear cousins, Faye Pierce Haas, Cookie Pierce Fleet, and Johnny Benson, and her loyal Boston Terrier, “Cotton Blossom.”
Sissie was a member of Harmony Grove Baptist Church where she was a member of the Joy Club and the Spirit of Love Sunday School Class. She loved her church family dearly. She was a past member of the Donna Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, and she served on the Middlesex Farm Bureau Board of Directors. Sissie was very passionate about advocating to help educate her special needs son, Kenny, and she held an enduring place in her heart for the Special Olympics Virginia. Sissie had many accomplishments in life, but her most cherished accomplishment was the family and life she built with Kenneth Wayne.
Through the years, Sissie loved spending time with her family, decorating her home, and entertaining family and friends. She had a love of shopping and enjoyed lunching. Sissie was a vibrant and fun person who was full of laughs and always wanting to make memories. She will be remembered most for her way of making people feel accepted and good about themselves and for her beautiful smile.
Visitation will be held at Harmony Grove Baptist Church in Topping at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, with the service at 11 o’clock and the reception immediately following in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Special Olympics Virginia at www.specialolympicsva.org.
