March 17 grand opening set for Gordmans at Hayes

Apparel and home décor retailer Gordmans will open its new Hayes location, as well as 16 other Virginia stores, with a grand opening celebration beginning with a ribbon cutting at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, March 17.

The York River Crossing store replaces the Peebles Department Store, which had first opened its doors in the summer of 1990. Both Peebles and Gordmans are part of the Stage community of stores, and the change is part of a corporate rebranding.

As a part of the grand opening celebrations, all 17 new Virginia stores will make a $1,000 donation to a local high school in each community they serve—the $1,000 gift from the Hayes store will go to Gloucester High School.

An off-price retailer, Gordmans carries familiar brands at prices lower than at other department stores, a corporate release stated. Merchandise selection includes apparel and footwear for the family, home décor, accent furniture, wall décor, bedding and bath, kitchen gadgets, fashion jewelry, designer fragrance...
