Maintenance work Sunday on Coleman Bridge

Virginia Department of Transportation maintenance crews will perform mechanical repairs on the George P. Coleman Memorial Bridge Sunday that will require multiple intermittent full directional traffic stops.

VDOT spokesperson Jennifer Gwaltney said the traffic stops are scheduled to occur between midnight and noon in both the north- and southbound directions of the bridge, which carries Route 17 over the York River between Gloucester Point and Yorktown.

The traffic stops will be conducted as conditions permit, with each stop expected to last up to 30 minutes and then the traffic that has stopped to be cleared before another stop. Maritime traffic will not be impacted.
