Work is scheduled from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. today, Thursday, March 21, at the George P. Coleman Memorial Bridge to conduct maintenance on gear boxes at the York River span.

Jennifer Gwaltney, a spokesperson for the Virginia Department of Transportation, said that plans are to close the right shoulder on Route 17 southbound (from Gloucester to Yorktown) to allow crews room for their work.

Also, Gwaltney said crews conducted camera repair on the bridge Monday.

In other area transportation news, Gwaltney said a barrier gate replacement project will require right lane closure on Route 17 North at the James River Bridge 9 a.m.-8 p.m. through Friday.
