Mainsail moves to new Gloucester location

Mainsail Wealth Advisors, LLC, has a new home on Gloucester’s Main Street. The investment firm, which was most recently on Business Route 17 just south of the Court House, has been renovating the 3,400-square-foot building at the corner of Lewis Avenue and Main Street for the past seven months.

According to Scott Haley, managing partner of the firm, it originated in 2000 when he and Judy Mansfield decided to join forces with A.G. Edwards and Sons, Inc. As business grew, the team expanded over the years, eventually opening a second office in Richmond.

After several mergers including Wachovia and Wells Fargo Advisors, Haley said he and his team decided the best path forward was an independent company solely focused on meeting the ever-changing needs of its clients.

Haley said Mainsail Wealth Advisors, LLC, was created in 2013, opening its doors in September of that year. He said the firm decided to align with Raymond James Financial Services.

Mainsail provides investment management, retirement planning and estate planning services to retirees and pre-retirees. He said the firm prides itself in understanding the unique needs of each client, helping them create a plan tailored to their specific goals, and meeting face to face on a regular basis.

Haley said the firm had previously been renting space and decided it was time to purchase its own building in the center of town. “This place is a perfect answer to us,” Haley said. “Main Street is where the vibe is.” Main Street also holds a special place in Haley’s heart as he grew up there during the 1970s and 1980s.

He said Hunter’s Contracting completed the renovations on the building, which most recently housed offices for Chesapeake Bank’s Cash Flow program. The renovations include more natural light, a state-of-the-art conference room and a comfortable waiting area for clients.

Haley said he and his staff of seven are in the top one-percent of Raymond James advisors. “We have a lot of experience here,” he added.
